Okay, so, initially this note was meant to be about dusting off my LinkedIn profile, but I actually got REAL deep into it. Like, I have the most followers I’ve ever had on any social media. Wild.
I’ve met some lovely people over there and learned a lot. (mostly that apparently my writing does seem appealing to people, even if it doesn’t appeal to me, personally… pfft)
Ironically, being on LinkedIn got me to complete the seek mentorship task far better than the task itself did, because I met Jessie Kate Bui who’s been absolutely amazing at mentoring me, and it literally happened /by accident/ (and she’s also working on a very cool book project, by the way. keep an eye out for it!)
It didn’t last forever, though. But I do try to keep showing up there, because I’ve really enjoyed my time there and I believe that of all social media, LinkedIn is actually one of the nicest if your goal is to GENUINELY get to know people. (but be warned. You must comment on people’s stuff.)
I do feel like, despite having done this far in advance, I’ve come a bit full circle on it now because I find that my LinkedIn needs a refresher.. Again! But I dread it because writing about myself and what I do is HARD. But I think, seeing how this place has evolved since the last time I’ve been here, I can do a better job now than I did before.
